- God is wrathful towards sinners with respect to the relationship. Thus, when Christ propitiates God's wrath, he is not changing the essence or disposition of God. Sin creates a breach in the relation to the Lord, a relation that makes a covering necessary, as Murray says. (See John Murray, Redemption Accomplished and Applied, 30).
